DEAF LAMENT

Deaf Lament is a silent animation which displays the grief of a mother who lost her son to a bullet which hit his body during a police intervention at a commemoration. The mother, surrounded by womaen, is singing a lament, crying and continously swinging her body forwards and backwards. The women around the mother share her pain wit a silent helplessness. The re- occurence and piling up of suffering which leads to the loss of the sense of social justice is depicted in the gesture of the mother. Text by Öykü Özsoy
